Daniel is the second-born in a family of eight children. Life at home has been very difficult. Both of his parents are HIV positive, and his mother suffers from severe depression. When she misses her monthly injection, she becomes extremely hostile. When Daniel wonders why God placed him in such a family, Josephine gently reminds him that his life is also a ministry.
Because the situation at home was so intense—and because he was a strong student—Daniel attended a boarding school so he could focus on his studies. After graduating, he enrolled in a plumbing course. Although he has not yet completed the program, Hope for Life alumni who took the same course regularly offer him small jobs. With the money he earns, Daniel helps buy medicine for his mother’s chronic malaria and depression.
Daniel leads the Battalion for boys at church and consistently demonstrates strong leadership skills.
